We had another banner year at the Tambourine Resale Shop, thanks to all of the wonderful donations we received from our John’s Island Club members and the excellent reputation we have earned in the community. Our financial results exceeded our expectations, contributing almost 12% of the total JICSL raised in 2022-23. We are proud to be such an important part of the more than $1.5 million in grants and scholarships the JICSL donated to Indian River County organizations this year.

The Tambourine Resale Shop isn’t like any other “thrift store.” We are unique in that we represent you, the members of the John’s Island community. Just as the John’s Island Club is one of the finest residential clubs in the nation, the Tambourine Resale Shop, as an extension of that community, is a reflection of its members — upscale, sophisticated, and stylish. Our shoppers know that they will find affordably priced items of the best quality.

Running the Tambourine Resale Shop is just one of the many ways the JICSL raises funds for its grant and scholarship programs. The Shop is staffed by one employee, manager Jane LaFevers, and the rest are volunteers from JIC and the Vero Beach community. The majority of our donations come from JIC members, which is what makes us very unique. Your neighbors donate “nearly new” or “gently used” items like housewares, women’s clothing, men’s clothing, furniture, jewelry, art and antiques. Every item that is donated is carefully and diligently reviewed by a volunteer and priced to sell.

We have been increasing our social media presence over the past few years, and it seems to be working. Our higher-end furniture and art is often sold through “Chairish,” reaching interior designers and tastemakers throughout the country. Savvy shoppers often call the Shop to buy items they have seen on Instagram, and buyers line up on “sale” days to get the best bargains.

We are super excited to be celebrating our 44th anniversary this year.
